About the Program Want to become a welder? Get the training you need to gain entry-level employment (in less than a year!) in Moraine Park s Welding technical diploma program. Moraine Park s Welding technical diploma program teaches individuals the welding and fabrication skills needed in today s industries. Through hands-on experience in a welding laboratory, students gain skills in all welding positions. What You'll Learn Upon completion, students will know how to interpret welding drawings, operate metal fabricating equipment, perform thermal cutting, produce gas metal arc welds (GMAW), produce gas tungsten arc welds (GTAW), produce shielded metal arc welds (SMAW), produce flux cored arc welds (FCAW) and demonstrate safety practices. Program applications are accepted until a week prior to the start of each semester. There are some exceptions for programs or certificates that begin mid-semester. Some high-demand/limited-enrollment programs reach capacity based on the number of students who complete admission. Applicants are accepted into limited-enrollment programs on a first-come, first-served basis and are admitted from program waitlists as space becomes available.
Courses in these Moraine Park certificates can be applied to the Welding technical diploma: Gas Metal Arc Welding Certificate Gas Tungsten Arc Welding Certificate Shielded Metal Arc Welding Certificate With an additional 10 credits completed in the summer, students can earn both the Welding technical diploma and the Metal Fabrication technical diploma in just three semesters!
Advisory board committee members from area businesses provide guidance and direction on curriculum and program outcomes.
Moraine Park offers Employment Services and Career Services to students.
Tutoring is available online and face to face for our students.

MAKING SENSE OF THE EMPLOYMENT OUTCOMES:

"Average quarterly wages" means the total wages earned in a three-month period by all students who completed the program ("completers"), divided by the total number of completers.

"Median quarterly wages" means all the completers' quarterly wages are placed in order from lowest to highest and then we identify the student's wages in the middle. This information is provided because averages can be greatly influenced by really high and low wage earners.

To estimate monthly wages, divide the quarterly wages by three.
